VAUDELL KILPATRICK HICKS


COLUMBIA... Vaudell Kilpatrick Hicks, a resident of Columbia, Alabama passed away Friday, September 6, 2024, at a Dothan hospital. She was 79.


        A Celebration of Life service will be held 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 9, 2024 at First


Baptist Church – Columbia with Reverend Vann Cooley officiating. A eulogy will be given by her grandson, Trey Hicks. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.


       In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Hicks’s honor to the First Baptist


Church – Columbia, 200 North Main Street, Columbia, Alabama 36319; or to the Columbia Fire Department and Rescue Squad, 113 South Main Street, Columbia, Alabama 36319.


      Mrs. Hicks was born in Panama City, Florida to the late Andrew Grady Kilpatrick and L B


Brown Kilpatrick. She had previously lived in Lynn Haven, Florida, Monroeville, Alabama, and has been in Columbia, Alabama for the past fifty-three years. She retired from Couch Construction (APAC), but previously also worked at Freeman Company. She was a charter member of the Columbia Ambulance and Rescue. She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her family fondly remembers her for some of her famous sayings: “Honey Hush” and “It will be alright tomorrow”.


     Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Bibb Kilpatrick,


Dennis Kilpatrick, and Jennus Kilpatrick; her sisters-in-law, Donna Cooper and Cookie Kilpatrick; and her brothers-in-law, Buddy Hicks, Rick Cooper, and Kenneth Lingo.


     Leaving to cherish her memories is her husband of sixty-three years, James H. “Jimmy”


Hicks; her sons, Andy Hicks (Amy) and Buster Hicks (Darlene); her sister, Carolyn Kilpatrick; her sisters-in-law, Katherine Kilpatrick, Shirley Kilpatrick, and Diane Lingo; her grandchildren, Brooke Scott (Cory), Andrew Hansford Hicks (Jayna), Trey Hicks (Kylar), and Lorin Adams (Christian); her great-grandchildren, Layne Redden, Alayna Hicks, Hansley Hicks, Kaylynn Hicks, Amelia Adams, Wilder Hicks, and Lily June Adams; her great-great-grandson, Harrison Redden; and several special nieces and nephews.
