DOTHAN. . . Velma Cook McInnis, a resident of Woodham Road, Dothan, died early Thursday morning, May 10, 2012, in the Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 98.



            Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 12, 2012, in the Holman Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Otis Derrah and Reverend Earl Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland.



            In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Denton Road United Methodist Church “Choir Fund”, 2140 Denton Road, Dothan, Alabama 36303.



            Mrs. McInnis was a lifelong resident of Woodham Road in Dothan, daughter of the late Albert Loyd Cook and Nettie Holley Cook. She was a charter member of the Curtis Memorial Methodist Church which later became the Denton Road United Methodist Church. Mrs. McInnis served as the church pianist and as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the U.M.W. She was retired as a salesperson from Sears in Dothan. Mrs. McInnis was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Reginald McInnis, a son-in-law, Dr. James F. Walters, and two sisters, Lois Cook Garrard and Flora Cook Bruce.



            Surviving relatives include two daughters, Charlotte Kelly and husband, Fred, Alpharetta, GA; and Sarah Walters, Birmingham; a son, Albert A. (Bud) McInnis and wife, Glenda, Dothan; six grandchildren, Julia Kelly Butterworth and husband, Hank; Jeanne Kelly Willis and husband, Justin; Joni Kelly Lockwood and husband, Rick; Scott McInnis and wife Michelle, Karen McInnis McGory and husband Jim; Kimberly Walters Hyde; ten great-grandchildren.



            Serving as active pallbearers will be Jimmy Newsom, Ron Battles, Tony Walker, Scott McInnis, Steve Garrard and Gene Jackson.
