Friends and family are invited to a service to celebrate her life at Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home on Thursday, September 8 at 2pm. The service will be officiated by Jeanette's grandson, Chip Anderson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately preceding the service at 1pm. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Velma Jeanette Napier passed away Sunday, September 4, 2022 after a long, courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was 87.


Friends and family are invited to a service to celebrate her life at Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home on Thursday, September 8 at 2pm. The service will be officiated by Jeanette's grandson, Chip Anderson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately preceding the service at 1pm. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.


Jeanette was born to Leon and Pansy Cobb on October 22, 1934. She grew up in the Rehobeth and Big Creek communities. Jeanette married John (J.L.) Napier and they had many adventures travelling all over the world. After J.L. retired from the military, they moved to Dothan and were very involved with church activities, the ex-POW group, and in school and community events in the Rehobeth area. Jeanette worked at the Houston County Probate Office until she retired shortly after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s.


Jeanette loved her children beyond measure and she made a tremendous difference in their lives and the lives of so many other people. She was a wonderful person who was kind and gentle, and she will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her legacy of love, courage and integrity will continue to inspire our lives until we meet again in heaven.


Jeanette was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, J. L. Napier; her parents, Pansy and Leon Cobb; her brothers, Herbert, Donald and Leon (Rusty) Cobb.


Jeanette leaves behind a large family to cherish her memory. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Teresa and Bobby Blount, Delores and Dennis Crabtrey, Denise and Bob Harrelson, Belinda and Tolton Anderson; her sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Karen Napier, Tim and Kathi Napier; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Pauline Cobb; her sisters-in-law, Sandra Cobb and Wanda Jean Dollar; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jake Napier, Blake Napier, Denny Crabtrey, and Landon Rodriguez and her nephews, David Lane and Caleb Smith.
