FT. GAINES, GEORGIA…Vera Arnold Weaver, a resident of Ft. Gaines, Georgia, died Saturday afternoon, March 14, 2015, at her home. She was 90.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. (E.D.T.) Saturday, March 21, 2015, in the Ft. Gaines Baptist Church with Reverend Jeff Hines officiating. Burial will follow in the Shorterville Baptist Church Cemetery, Shorterville, Alabama with Holman-Abbeville Mortuary and Cremations directing. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday, in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ft. Gaines First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 248, Ft. Gaines, Georgia 39851.
Mrs. Weaver was a native of Shorterville, Alabama, daughter of the late Edward Walter Arnold and Cornelia Mills Arnold. She lived most of her adult lifetime in Ft. Gaines and was a member of the Ft. Gaines Baptist Church. Through the years, she taught Sunday school, was a leader for the Girls Mission Group, the Woman’s Missionary Union Director, and church clerk. Mrs. Weaver was formerly employed by B.C. Moore Department Store in Blakely, Georgia, as a sales clerk, William Carter Manufacturing, in Edison, Georgia and by the Clay County Farm Bureau as a secretary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rufus H. Weaver, a son and daughter-in-law, Harward and Jan Weaver, two sisters, Celia Arnold Babbitt and Ila Arnold Brown Mann, and two brothers and sisters-in-law, William E. and Evelyn Arnold and Raymond and Catherine Arnold.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Cindy Weaver White (Jerry), Dothan, AL; a son, Jerry W. Weaver (Betti), Tucson, AZ; five grandchildren, Matthew Anderson, Amy Anderson Mulkey (Dan), Kimberly Weaver Bolden (Demetrius), John Weaver (Kimberly), and Kendyl Weaver Shinsato (Alan); five great-grandchildren.
