VESTON W. BUSH, JR.
ABBEVILLE. . .Veston W. Bush, Jr., age 74, of Abbeville, died early Sunday morning, October 5, 2014, in a Dothan hospital.
As per Veston’s request, his eyes were donated to the Alabama Eye Bank and his body to the University of South Alabama College of Medicine for research.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 7, 2014, in the First Baptist Church of Abbeville with the Reverend Ryan Johnson officiating and eulogies to be given by David Herndon and Pate Weems. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M Tuesday in the Family Life Building of the First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Veston’s memory, to the “Building/Maintenance Fund” of the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 606, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Veston Bush was a native of Eufaula, son of the late Veston Wilfred Bush, Sr. and Murloy Armstrong Bush. He moved with his family to Abbeville as a child. Veston was a graduate of Abbeville High School. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church and co-chaired the committee to build the Family Life Building. Veston also served the church as an usher, choir member and as Chairman of the Men’s Brotherhood Breakfast.
Veston was President of Veston Bush Surveyors. Previously, he was employed by Lee, Wainwright and Hamm and Polysurveying. Veston was a Professional Licensed Surveyor for forty-two years. He was a past President of the Alabama Society of Professional Land Surveyors. Veston was named a lifetime member of the society in July 2014. He was appointed to the Alabama Board of Licensure for Engineers and Surveyors. Veston was a member of the Abbeville Planning Commission, a past member and President of the Abbeville Lions Club and the Abbeville Jaycees and Logistics Chairman for the Henry County Relay For Life. Veston and his wife, Margie, served as Grand Marshalls of the Abbeville Christmas Parade in 2012.
Surviving relatives include his wife of forty-nine years, Margie Capps Bush, two sons, Chadwick Capps Bush, Andy Bush (Karen), all of Abbeville; grandchildren, Keith Collins, Addison Bush, and Alex Bush; three brothers, Crawford Bush (Jean), William Bush, Ronnie Bush (Annie Ruth), all of Abbeville; special friends, George and Becky Taylor, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Doyle, Preston Jackson, Robert Edward Phillips, Jr., Larry Pitchford, Sam Marley, Mikie Walding, Jr., and Eddie Dodd.
