DOTHAN. . .Victoria Owens Stinson, our beloved Mother, left her earthly home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday morning, May 30, 2017.  She was 85.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, June 1, 2017, at Grandview Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Grimes officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday in the church sanctuary.


            Mrs. Stinson was born in Barbour County, and lived most of her life in Dothan.  She was a member of the 1949 graduating class of Dothan High School.  She was a devoted long-time member of Grandview Baptist Church and was active in the Caraway Sunday School Class.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, James Wilford Stinson, her father, Ralph Hasleteen Owens, her mother, Katie Bell Green Owens, three sisters, Margaret Trawick, Katie Mae Barr and June McDonald, and two brothers, Ralph H. Owens and Neal D. Owens.


            The impact that she had on her children, grandchildren, friends and family will always be cherished by those who knew and loved her.  Surviving relatives include three daughters, Jean Smith (Ray), Valrico, FL; Jane Fillingim (Earl), Panama City, FL; and Janice Berry, Dothan; two sons, James Stinson (Kathy), Cantonment, FL; and John Stinson, Gainesville, FL; a sister-in-law, Mildred Owens, Headland; and a brother-in-law, Charles Stinson, Summerfield, FL; eight grandchildren, Derek Smith (Jacque), Jarrod Smith (Brandi), Laura Baker (Eric), Christopher Fillingim (Marilena), Amanda McBride (Matt), Dusty Berry (Kathryn), Harrison Stinson and Col Stinson; eighteen great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter.  She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be her grandsons.


Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Grandview Baptist Church Building Fund, 2400 Forrester Road, Dothan, AL 36301. 


            The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Mancuso, Carol Enfinger, and Kindred Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Stinson during her illness.
