VIRGIE  HALL  SKIPPER


 


DOTHAN. . .Virgie Hall Skipper, a resident of Harrison Road, Dothan, died late Monday night, August 13, 2012, in Westside Terrace. She was 91. 


 


            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, August 15, 2012, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Danny Quincey officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, near Grimes. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.



            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL  36303.



            Mrs. Skipper was born and reared in Houston County, daughter of the late William Wright Hall and Mattie Lee Braswell Hall. She lived on Harrison Road in Dothan since 1944. Mrs. Skipper was an active member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church until she became disabled and was a former member of the Heritage Baptist Church. She was retired from Ansell, Inc. as a supervisor. Her hobbies were reading, sewing, gardening and her flowers. Mrs. Skipper was preceded in death by her husband, Buck A. Skipper, a grandson, Dan O’Neal Bagwell, Jr., two sons-in-law, Neal Bagwell and Charles Carter, four brothers, James Hall, Preston B. Hall, Charlie B. Hall and David Hall, and a sister, Maggie Hicks.



            Surviving relatives include four daughters, Dora Bagwell, Jean Pitts and husband, Wyndal, Cherry Lewis and husband, Mac, and Jo Singletary and husband, Harold, all of Dothan; two sons, Jerry Skipper and wife, Regina, Dothan; and Phillip Skipper and wife, Sonja, Headland; three sisters, Bernice Hicks, Ashford; Dorothy Peoples, Pensacola, FL; and Pat Hopkins, Ashford; twelve grandchildren,  numerous great-grandchildren.



            Serving as active pallbearers will be Jackson Corbin, Mac Lewis, Harold Singletary, Derron Skipper, Bobby McCoy and Jason Skipper. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jon Armstrong and Glen Carter.



            The family would like to express their appreciation to Westside Terrace and  Covenant Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Skipper during her illness.
