BLUE SPRINGS. . .Virginia Bryan Ward, a resident of Barbour County, near Blue Springs, died early Wednesday morning, December 5, 2018, at her home. She was 79.


     Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 8, 2018, in the Shiloh Word Fellowship with Reverend Thomas D. Gamble and Robert Wilkinson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.


     Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Shiloh Word Fellowship “Building Fund”, c/o Curtis Teal, 141 Pacific Street, Dothan, AL 36303.


     Mrs. Ward was born and reared in Barbour County, near Blue Springs, daughter of the late William Gettis Bryan and Berline Shipes Bryan. She lived in Columbus, Georgia for twenty-six  years before returning to Barbour County in 1980. She was an active member of the Shiloh Word Fellowship where she participated in the Praise and Worship Team. In earlier years, she served along side her husband for forty-five years while he served as Pastor of Shiloh Word Fellowship and also in the Prison Ministry at Ventress Correctional Facility.  Mrs. Ward was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Bryan and Billy Bryan.


     Surviving relatives include her husband, Reverend James E. Ward, Sr; a daughter, Jenita Wilkinson (Robert), a son, Reverend James E. (Buddy) Ward (Charlene), all of Blue Springs; a sister, Carolyn Linton, Phenix City; two brothers, Cleveland Bryan (JoAnn), Dothan; and Hardy Bryan (Elaine), Eufaula; two grandchildren, Lori Williams (Rodney), and Brittany Joyner (Michael); two great-grandchildren, John Joyner and Joshua Joyner; several nieces and nephews.


     Serving as active pallbearers will be Rodney Williams, Michael Joyner, H. C. Gulledge, Joe McKnght, Shane Teal and James Roy Wilkinson.
