DOTHAN. . .Virginia Burgess Nowell, a resident of Dothan, died early Thursday morning, April 14, 2016, in a Dothan hospital. She was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 16, 2016, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Clint McBroom officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland & Dothan. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland.
Mrs. Nowell was born and reared in Midland City and was a 1953 graduate of Midland City High School. She lived in Dothan most of her adult lifetime where she was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church. Mrs. Nowell was preceded in death by her father, Hansel Eugene Burgess, her mother, Gladys Murray Burgess Green, her husband, O.S Nowell, Jr., and a brother, Charles Burgess.
Surviving relatives include three daughters, Silvia Enfinger, Dothan; Sherri Reed (John), Peachtree City, GA; and Kaye Chavis (Michael), Dothan; a son, Kevin Nowell (Susan), Dothan; a sister, Martha Woodham, Midland City; fifteen grandchildren, Allison Steinmeyer (Kelly), Kerri Nowell, Janna Enfinger, Erin Poe (Morgan), Amanda Gilbert (Austin), Stephanie Reed, Jennifer Reed, Kerry Moose (Barry), John Reed (Teresa), Ryan Reed (Megan), Johnathan Spann, Hunter Spann, Savannah Spann (fiancé Jeremy Williams), Brandi Chavis, Dylan Chavis; eight great-grandchildren.
