Virginia Carol Sanford Jarvis, of Geneva, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on March 26, 2023, at the age of 88.
Carol was born in Montgomery, Alabama on August 10, 1934 to the late James Lewis and Hazel Virginia (Speer) Sanford. She attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) and married Edmund Ellis Jarvis, a lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force. They had two sons, Michael Edmund Jarvis and Stephen Ellis Jarvis.
Carol enjoyed the military life and developed a great fondness for traveling. She was a devoted mother and wife, and delighted in the family’s overseas stations in Guam and England. She became an enthusiastic Anglophile and relished the study of English history. In England she made lifelong friends and took great pleasure in roaming the countryside in search of antiques.
After the military career ended, the family moved to Daytona Beach, Florida, where Carol embarked on a real estate career, and enjoyed boating and golf. Later, back in Montgomery, Carol joined square dancing clubs, attended the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and was a member of Eastern Hills Baptist Church.
Throughout her life Carol remained an avid Auburn football fan. She was a kind-hearted, elegant, and compassionate person who always treated others fairly and respectfully. She was a beautiful woman, inside and out.
She is survived by her sons, her daughter-in-law Beverly Visitacion, her sister Sylvia Borden, her brother-in-law Charles Borden, and her nieces Charlotte Meadows, Melanie Little, and Gini Beth Welch, along with eight grand nieces and nephews.
