MIDLAND CITY. . .Virginia Prince Thompson, a resident of Midland City, died Sunday night, June 11, 2017, in a Dothan Hospital. She was 85.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 15 2017, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Mike Griggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Sylvan Grove Methodist Cemetery Fund, c/o Dinah Woodham, 992 County Road 531, Midland City, AL 36350.
Ms. Thompson was born in Geneva County, daughter of the late Hugh Middleton Prince and Carrie Lydia Gilmore Prince. She lived in the Sylvan Grove Community all of her adult lifetime. Ms. Thompson was a member of Sylvan Grove United Methodist Church. She retired from U.S. Civil Service, Army Research Institute, at Ft. Rucker. Ms. Thompson was preceded in death by a brother, Charles M. Prince and a sister, Betty Davis.
Survivors include two daughters, Lydianne Watson (Larry), Dothan, and Kim Tharpe (Rickey), Midland City; three sons, Don “Chip” Thompson, Jr. (Karen), Midland City; Christopher H. Thompson (Tammy), Midland City; and Paige Thompson (LaDonna), Dothan; a sister, Lillian Raines, Milton, FL; a sister-in-law, Miriam Prince, Dothan; six grandchildren, Carrie Gasaway (John), Tyler Tharpe, Savannah McCoy (Josh), Trawick Thompson, Tucker Thompson, and Tate Thompson; three great-grandchildren, Abby Grace Gasaway, Emma Cate Gasaway, Fields McCoy, and one on the way.
Serving as active pallbearers will be the grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
