GORDON, AL… W. R. “Bobby” Jowers , a resident of Gordon, Alabama, passed away Thursday morning, June 29, 2023, at his home. He was 86.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory with Reverend Vann Cooley officiating. Burial will follow in the Crestlawn Memorial Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
The family is accepting flowers or contributions may be made in Mr. Jowers memory to the St. Judes Children Hospital, ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or www.stjude.org .
Mr. Jowers was born in Calvary, Georgia to the late William Benjamin Jowers and Flossie Nelson Jowers. He worked at Farley Nuclear Plant as a heavy equipment operator. He also was a long-haul truck driver.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Jowers and a son-in-law, Kenny Lewis.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his daughters, Nancy Jowers (Brian Casdorph) and Debbie Jowers Lewis; his son, Billy Jowers (Lois); his sisters, Virginia Williams, Dot Creel (Ed), Barbara Smith (Prince), and Deloris Davis; his brother, Walter Jowers; his granddaughter, Krystle Cline; his great-grandchildren, Luke Ashley and Landon McCoy; and his great-great-granddaughter, Emersyn Grace Ashley.
