Wade Alan Hartzog

Wade Alan Hartzog, known by many as "Wild Wade" for his zest for life, rode off into the sunset for the last time on October 1, 2023. Born on June 23, 1957. Wade's life was a comedy show that ran for 66 spectacular years, and he was the star of every episode.

Wade was the type of guy who didn't stress about yesterday and had no qualms about tomorrow. He was a master of living in the moment, always ready with a joke or a funny story to lighten the mood. He was a man who could make you laugh so hard that you'd forget your own name, and then calmly recite your favorite Bible verse to help you remember.

Wade attended Dale County High School and later obtained his GED. He was as sharp as a tack and as knowledgeable as a library. He knew the Bible inside and out, and he could fix just about anything with his handy skills. He was as creative as a Picasso painting, and as interesting as a page-turning novel.

Wade was a family man through and through. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Hartzog and Mary Genice Hartzog, and his brother, Leon F. Hartzog, who are probably having a good chuckle with him in heaven right now. He is survived by his son, Chris Hartzog (Brandy), his grandsons, Will Hartzog and Drew Hartzog. He also leaves behind his sisters, Malinda "Joyce" Clark and Barbara Rhodes (Franklin "Jeff"), brothers, Bruce Hartzog and Terry Hartzog; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who will miss his infectious laughter and unwavering positivity.

Wade was a man of many interests. He loved riding his motorcycle, living for the thrill of the open road and the wind in his hair. He was also a fan of board games, a pastime that allowed him to combine his competitive spirit with his love for family. He loved to draw, his creative mind bringing to life images that were as unique and interesting as he was.

His favorite quote, "he was always where his boots were," was not just a saying, but a way of life for Wade. He never worried about the past or the future. He lived for the moment, making the most of every day and spreading joy wherever he went.

In true Wade fashion, let's not mourn his passing, but celebrate his life. Let's remember him for his infectious laughter, his love for his family, and his zest for life. His knowledge for Law and picking up the nickname “Matlock”. Let's recall the many times he made us laugh, the wisdom he shared, and the love he showed to each of us. Wade may have left the stage, but his performance will be remembered for a lifetime. So, here's to Wade Hartzog, the man who was always where his boots were. May he ride on in our hearts, bringing a smile to our faces every time we think of him. After all, as Wade would say, "Why worry about tomorrow when you can laugh today?"
