WALTER EDWARD WADE
HEADLAND. . .Walter Edward Wade, a resident of Headland, died Tuesday afternoon, January 29, 2019, in Westside Terrace in Dothan. He was 98.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 1, 2019, in Gardens of Memory with Minister Bobby Gunter officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wade was born in Relay, Maryland, son of the late John Wade and Florence Gertrude Stewart Wade. He served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II and served with the second wave in Normandy. Mr. Wade lived in the Dothan area most of his adult lifetime where he was retired from Sunnyland Meat Packing Company. After retirement, Mr. Wade was employed as a security guard with Perdue Farms. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cleo Kirkland Wade and a son, Bobby Wade.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Cindy Gunter (Michael), a son, Bruce Wade (Sheila), all of Headland; a brother, Thurman Wade (Lucille), Rainelle, VA; four grandchildren, Emily Hagen (Richard), Christan Fitzgerald (Jacob), Aja Heck (Scott), and Ian Wade (Kendra); four great-grandchildren, Annaliese Hagen, Grayson Purdue, Larry Fitzgerald and Tyler Winchester.
