Walter Jimmy McDuffie, of Enterprise, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at home. He was 72.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 24, 2017 in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory of Enterprise. Burial will follow at a later date in Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 5 – 7 p.m.
Walter was born August 8, 1945, in Cairo, Georgia. He was a veteran of the United States Army, served two tours in Vietnam, and retired from the Army National Guard. He continued to serve his country and community as a firefighter at the Fort Rucker Station 1 and was a founding member of the Enterprise Rescue Squad.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Muggridge and Norman Morgan McDuffie; and his late wife, Terri Goodson McDuffie.
Survivors include his wife of eleven years, Judy McDuffie of Enterprise; son, Drew McDuffie of Nashville, TN; granddaughter, Reagan McDuffie of Houston, TX; stepsons: Ashley Childree (Desirae) of Naples, FL, and Lee Childree of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren: Kaylee, Riley, Chapman, and Amaris Childree; two sisters: Beth McDuffie (Bonnie) of Las Vegas, NV, and Kathy Mullis (Richard) of Macon, GA; two sisters-in-law: Pamela McDaniel (Gary) of Enterprise, AL and Kim Eagle (Larry) of Phenix City, AL; several nieces and nephews.
