BERTHA COMMUNITIY…Wanda Blankenship Johnson, a resident of the Bertha Community, near Echo, died early Sunday morning, June 30, 2024, at her home. She was 67.


            Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. July 2, 2024, in the New Hope Baptist Church in the Bertha Community with Reverend Tim Sewell and Reverend Bill Hart officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. in the church sanctuary. Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark is in charge of arrangements.


            Wanda, daughter of the late Gerald J Blankenship and Mattie Lou Jones Blankenship, was a native of the Bertha Community. She was a 1974 Graduate of Dale County High School and attended Wallace Community College, Auburn University at Montgomery, and Faulkner University in Montgomery. Wanda was formerly employed with IBM, Fuqua Bankston Funeral Home, and AOC with the State of Alabama.


            Surviving relatives include her daughter, Jessica Blocker (Craig), Ozark; sister, Linda Watson, Bertha Community; brother, Danny Blankenship, Dothan; granddaughters, Madison (Maddie) McDaniel and Brittany Beltran (Josh); niece and nephews, Haley Watson, (Trenton), Dylan Blankenship (Alex), Luke Blankenship (Jamie); great nieces Mattie Ruiz, Railey Watson, Tenley Ingram, and Addison Blankenship.
