Wanda Jones Fassett, 63, of Dothan, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at her daughter’s residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at Bay Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Bay Springs Baptist Church Youth Group, 1721 S. Bay Springs Rd., Dothan, AL 36305, Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Rd., Dothan, AL 36303, or to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Donor Services, P.O. Box 4072, Pittsfield, MA 01202.

Mrs. Fassett was born on August 11, 1949 in Houston County and lived the early years of her life here. She was a 1967 graduate of Wicksburg High School and later Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing. Mrs. Fassett received her Bachelor’s Degree from Troy University and her Master’s in Nursing from University of South Alabama. Mrs. Fassett was employed with Southeast Alabama Medical Center for over 40 years until her illness. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Mrs. Fassett was a member of Bay Springs Baptist Church and the Nursing Honor Society at the University of South Alabama.

Mrs. Fassett was preceded in death by her son David “H.B.” Fassett, by her brother, Randall Jones, and by her parents, Jimmy and Frances Jones.

Survivors include her loving husband of 43 years, Dave Fassett; her 2 daughters, Jinnifer Fassett and LeAnn Fassett; her 3 grandchildren, Cole Crook, Hunter Crook, and Jaci Creel; her 2 brothers, Lavoid “Jimmy” (Janice) Jones and Willie Royce (Peggy) Jones; her 2 sisters, Maxine Culbreth and Teresa Wood; several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Chris Jones, Stephen Jones, LaDon Jones, Anthony Jones, Ashley Jones, and Tim Jones.
