Wayland Eudon Danley of Samson passed away on Tuesday, April 28, 2020. He was 82 years old.
In consideration of community health and the State of Alabama public health orders that are in effect due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), a private graveside service will be held for immediate family only on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Pleasant Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Wayland was born in Geneva County, AL on September 14, 1937 to the late Chottaw and Nancy Elizabeth Adams Danley. Mr. Danley retired from the US Navy after 20 years of service. He proudly served during the Vietnam Era. He also served as Chief of Police in Samson for several years and also as the crosswalk guard, where he protected the children as they would travel to and from school. Mr. Danley was a longtime member of the Samson Masonic Lodge # 624. He was also a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed being in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Stokes Danley; one sister, Juanita Fulford; and nephew, Gerald Danley and one sister-in-law Jean Danley.
Mr. Danley is survived by three daughters, Tammy D. Watson of Enterprise, Lisa D. Hatcher of Samson, and Hope Danley of Geneva; two sons, James Michael Adams (Lauryn) of Gantt, and Ethan E. Danley of Warrior, AL; 11 grandchildren, Dannah Davis, Will Mosier, Gracie Danley, Heath Hatcher (Paige), Abbie Hatcher, Mollie Hatcher, Paige Pickron, Gage Arrant, Mary Grace Adams, Luke Adams, and Beckett Adams; eight great-grandchildren, Eviannah, Tyson, Kelin, Laielah,Lakyn, Alayna, Hunter, and Saylor Grace; four brothers, Cleveland Danley of Samson, Roger Danley (Merlene) of Samson, Bobby Danley (Betty Sue) of Hacoda, and Jacky Danley (Susan) of Hacoda; one sister, Valinda Lolley (James) of Samson; special lifetime friend, Bill Peters of Lakeland, FL; and many special nieces and nephews.
