Mr. Waylon Ward, Jr. of West State Hwy 52, Samson, Alabama passed away Saturday, June 28, 2014. He was 65.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 1, 2014, at Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Wesley Spivey officiating and Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, June 30, 2014, from 6 until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family asked that memorial contributions be made to the Piney Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
Waylon was born July 25, 1948, in Coffee County, Alabama. He was currently employed with Army Fleet Support at Ft. Rucker. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and he loved his hunting and fishing buddies. Waylon was a friend to everyone he met and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was a member of Lime Springs United Methodist Church.
His father, Waylon L. Ward, Sr., preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, Chad Ward (Amber); one grandson, Gavin Ward and a granddaughter that is due in September, all of Cottonwood; mother, Evelyn Pinkerton Ward of Samson; one sister, Sue Pridgen (Earl) of Samson; mother of his son, Sandra B. McCurdy of Panama City Beach, FL; other extended family and a host of friends.
Pallbearers will be Clay King, Gary Weeks, James Ludman, Danny Simmons, Todd Ausley and Rodney Pope. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his hunting and fishing buddies.
