Waymon Eugene Cureton, a resident of Cottonwood, died Wednesday night, March 9, 2016, in the Pelham Medical Center, Greer, South Carolina. He was 63.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, March 13, 2016, in the Hodgesville Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Bristow and Reverend Eddie Cureton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 P.M. Sunday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Hodgesville Baptist Church Building Fund, 11190 County Road 33, Dothan, AL 36301.
Mr. Cureton was born near Newville and reared in Webb, son of the late Carl Edward Cureton and Johnnie Pearline Gray Cureton. He lived in the Cottonwood area most of his adult lifetime. Mr. Cureton retired, due to disability, from AAA Cooper Transportation in Dothan. He was an active member of the Hodgesville Baptist Church where he was currently serving as Chairman of Deacons and was involved in most activities in the church. Mr. Cureton was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Ann Cureton, a granddaughter, Leslie Cureton, a sister, Martha Sue Spelts, and five brothers, John Edward Cureton, James Earl Cureton, Charles Cureton, Jerry Lynn Cureton, and Bobby Joe Cureton.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Sharon Watford Cureton, Cottonwood; a son, Christopher Wayne Cureton, Mobile; two brothers, Kenneth Cureton (Terry), Columbia; Steve Cureton (Dr. Sharon Faye Cureton), Daphne, AL; two grandchildren, Christian Cureton and Olivia Cureton; numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Phillip Green, Joe Howard, Billy Garner, Grant Cureton, Chase Cureton and Stephen Cureton.
