Mr. Wayne Alfred Barnes of Kinston passed away Monday, June 13, 2016. He was 76.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2016 in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral in Geneva with Rev. Wesley Ard and Rev. Donnie Earles officiating. Burial will follow in the Ino Assembly of God Church Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, beginning at 12:00 p.m. and continuing until service time. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to: Ino Assembly of God Church or Cemetery fund; in care of Sue Wambles.
Mr. Barnes was born on November 18, 1939 in Coffee County to the late Dan Collie and Buna Cogburn Barnes. He had a God given talent for wood craftsmanship. He never came across a piece of wood he didn’t see the beauty in and able to craft something from it.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Thear Mae Spann Barnes; his precious son, Jerry “Bud” Barnes; two brothers Charles and Kermith Barnes.
He is survived by one daughter, Phyllis Barnes of Kinston, AL. He was the proud grandfather of three grandchildren, Damon Anderson (Michelle) of Loganville,GA, Jessica Roberts (Matt) of Fitzpatrick, AL, and Nick Anderson (Brandi) of Kinston, AL. His five sweet great-grandchildren, Abbie and Hunter Anderson of Kinston, AL, Morgan Anderson of Loganville, GA, Addie Grace and Marshall Roberts of Fitzpatrick, AL; four sisters, Jeanette Bass (Harold) of Enterprise. AL, Patricia Jones (Charles) of Charlottesville, VA, Gayle Rogers (Jim) of Loganville, GA, and Joan Webb (Don) of Birmingham, AL; one brother, Rex Barnes (Doris) of Enterprise, AL; special family friend, Linda Allen; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Comfort Care Hospice nurses and staff for all the love and care they provided.
