Wayne Phillips of Samson, AL passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024. He was 75 years old.


Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at Samson First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Jimmy Eddins officiating. Burial will follow in the Samson City Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday beginning at 2:00 p.m.


Wayne was born on February 15, 1949, to the late Gertrude Goodwin Phillips. Wayne was a faithful member of Samson First Assembly of God. He loved his church, people, bicycles, radios, drawing, but most of all his family, especially the children. He will be remembered by many from his visits to the local business in Samson.


In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one sister, Jimmie Phillips Presley, two brothers, Ed and Robert Phillips; one nephew, Danny Phillips; one niece, Lisa Harrison; one great-great nephew, Brock Vinson; and one nephew-in-law, Wayne Troublefield.


Wayne is survived by one niece, Vickie Presley Troublefield; two nephews, Ricky Presley (Sherrie) and Ronnie Presley all of Samson, AL; six great nieces, Danielle Ellenburg (Michael), Ashley Vinson (Jason), Brandie Hall (Brad), Casey Clenney (Patrick), Dana Presley (Zach), and Katie Phillips; two great nephews, David Troublefield (Patricia) and Danny Phillips, II; 12 great-great nieces, Audrey Grace, Jessie Mae, Eleanor, Kylie, Alli Claire, Baylor, Bradlee, Blayke, Samantha, Jaiden, Kaylee, and Savannah; nine great-great nephews, Presley, Joe David, Will, Waylon, Jace, Race, Tucker, Lane, and Kaden; special friends, Joyce and Peggy McCall.


Serving as pallbearers will be Timmy Sanders, Michael Ellenburg, Jeff Lowery, Jonathon Presley, Johnny Heath, and Little Man.


The family would like to say a special “thank you” Jamie Wilks, and SouthernCare Hospice for their devoted love and care.
