Wayne Planer, 55, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 after admission to Southeast Alabama Medical Center.

He was born in Hammond, Indiana to Thomas and Glenys Planer. Wayne graduated from Calumet High School in Lake County, Indiana. Later, Wayne graduated with an Associates degree in Avionics from the Alabama Aviation College in Ozark, Alabama. Wayne spent his life working with his hands, doing anything from landscaping to roofing. He loved animals and was fond of horseback riding. In his spare time, he could always be found spending many hours at a time reading fantasy novels.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing.

Wayne is survived by his parents Thomas and Glenys, as well as his twin brother Layne, brother Chad, and sister Sherry. He also leaves his two children, Kenna and Jacob Planer. Wayne will also be missed by a large group of friends from many areas.
