Wendell Harrison of Enterprise passed away, Thursday, June 28, 2012 in Jacksonville, FL.  He was 72.


           Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, July 1, 2012 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Sonny Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery with Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory directing.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Saturday, June 30th at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to: First Baptist Church Building Fund, 302 North Main Street, Enterprise, AL 36330.


           Wendell graduated from Enterprise High School in 1958, Enterprise Community College in 1968 and from Troy State University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree.  He worked at Fort Rucker for over 45 years and was lead man for the Huey project.  He was on the Board of Directors at the Enterprise Retirement center for 17 plus years, a Mason, a member of the Enterprise Country Club and a member of Alabama National Guard for 10 years.  Wendell loved golf and spending time with his golf buddies.  He was a loving husband and loving “Pop” to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.


           He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Stinson and his parents, Alma Ruth and Lehmon Harrison.


           Survivors include his wife, Elaine Oglesby Harrison, Enterprise; daughter and son-in-law, Donna (Bill) Machen, Northport, AL; three step-daughters, Kim (Tony) Lopez, Ft. Benning, GA; Pam Daughtry; Dawn( Rickey) Catrett; one step-son, Shawn Stuckey, all of Enterprise; three grandchildren, Hannah (T.J.) Faulkner; Benjamin Machen; Hunter Purvis, all of Northport, AL; seven step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Caden and Carson Redick; five step-great-grandchildren; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Merle and Wesley Staples, Ozark, AL; one sister, Edna Williams, Prattville, AL; one brother, Tony Harrison (Jackie), Franklinton, LA.
