ABBEVILLE. . .Wesley Wayne Watford, a resident of Abbeville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, late Saturday night, October 29, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 78.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 1, 2016, in the Judson Baptist Church with Reverend Gerald Ross and Reverend Brandon Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 P.M. Tuesday in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Judson Baptist Church Benevolence Fund, P.O. Box 56, Abbeville, AL or to SouthernCare Hospice, 2576 Montgomery Highway, Suite 2, Dothan, AL 36303.
Mr. Watford was a lifelong resident of the Screamer Community of Henry County, son of the late John Wesley Watford and Bernice Bailey Watford. He was a member of the Judson Baptist Church, the National Loggers Association and was a third generation logger. Mr. Watford was employed as a logger for many years. In earlier years, Mr. Watford worked as a carpenter in residential and commercial construction. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Edward Watford.
Surviving relatives include his wife, Carolyn Wise Watford; a daughter, Cindy Yeomans, (Billy), Abbeville; three sons, Wesley Watford and Timmy Watford (Penny), all of Abbeville; and Donnie Watford (Kelli), Headland; two sisters, Maude Bowden, Hurtsboro, AL; and Joyce Maddox (Rev. Gerald), Abbeville; three brothers, Willie Thomas Watford (Zelda), Hurtsboro, AL; Johnny Watford (Shirley), Abbeville; and Marley Watford (Ann), Abbeville; a sister-in-law, Faye Watford, Eufaula; nine grandchildren, Tonyia Conner, Ashley Braddy (Dannon), Kristy Rhodes (Gaius), Cody Watford, Hovey Watford, Bailey Watford, Colby German, Camille German and Connor German; ten great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and close family members.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Blythe Poston, Dannon Braddy, Hovey Watford, Cody Watford, Connor German and Colby German. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bob Watford, David Watford, Jeffrey Watford, Chris Maddox, Kevin Watford, Rodney Watford, Gaius Rhodes and Jonathan Ross.
The family would like to express their appreciation to SouthernCare Hospice for the loving care and kindness shown to Mr. Watford during his illness.
