Mr. Wilford Leon Holland of W. Griffin Avenue, Geneva, Alabama went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, February 3, 2014.  He was 82.


Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, February 5, 2015, in the Highfalls Assembly of God Church with Rev. Scott Benefield and Rev. Jesse Hobbs officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continue until service time.


Mr. Holland was born September 16, 1932, in Waynesboro, Mississippi, to the late James Austin and Susie Pugh Holland.  After more than 40 years of service in the textile industry he retired from Clinton Mills in Geneva.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening.   He had a kind, gentle spirit and lived his life as an example of a very devoted Christian and he loved Southern Gospel Music.  He was a very loving and devoted, husband, father and grandfather.  Mr. Holland was a member of the First Assembly of God in Geneva, but attended Highfalls Assembly for more than 20 years.


In addition to his parents, his brother, Robert Oneal Holland, preceded him in death.


Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Eunice Lorene Griffin Holland of Geneva, AL; two daughters: Doris (Jimmy) Stephenson of Satsuma, AL and Nancy (Walter “Corky”) Newman of Geneva, AL; three grandchildren: Andrea Faith (Jake) Rodgers of Semmes, AL, Ashley Marie (Cody) Jenkins of Mobile, AL and Casey Lee Newman of Geneva, AL; one great-grandchild, Anna Grace Rodgers of Semmes, AL; two sisters: Esther (Bill) Howell of Hoover, AL and Geneva Stewart of Saraland, AL; five brothers: Charles (Pat) Holland  and Bobby Holland, both of Chunchula, AL, Chester (Annette) Holland of Daleville, AL, James (Ann) Holland of Axis, AL, David Holland and special friend Rose of Waynesboro, MS; several special brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.


The family would like to say a very special thank you to Dr. Ryan Conner, Alice Bennett, Mary Overall and Rosetter Gomes for the loving care that was given to their loved one during his sickness.
