Willa Dean Simmons

Willa Dean Simmons, a resident of Dothan, passed away at a local hospital on Thursday, May 13, 2021. She was 85 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Nash Wills officiating.

Mrs. Simmons was born on October 4, 1935 in Abbeville, AL and lived most of her life in Dothan. She was a manager of several convenient stores until her retirement in the mid 1990’s. After her retirement, she was thrilled to babysit her grandchildren, whom she loved very much. Mrs. Simmons was an avid reader and loved reading her magazines and The Dothan Eagle.

Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Porter Simmons, her son, Rickie Simmons, and her granddaughter, Kati Price.

Survivors include her son, Michael (Paula) Simmons of Dothan; her daughters, Linda (Julian) McGriff and Denise Miller both of Columbia; her stepson, Donald (Sandra) Simmons of Ozark; her stepdaughter, Jewell Morse of Ozark; her grandchildren, Taylor Simmons, Mason Simmons, and Kaitlin Simmons; and several nieces and nephews.
