On Tuesday, July 28, 2015, William “Bill” Grady passed into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father. He was born in Kenansville, NC on February 22, 1920 and briefly attended East Carolina University before entering the military.
Major Grady served 24 years of military service in the United States Navy and Army. His specialties were, aviation, global communications-crypto, and intelligence. He served three years of duty with General of the Army, Douglas McArthur and two tours of duty at the Pentagon. Other tours of duty included Africa, Asia, Europe, and Central and South America. After Mr. Grady’s military service he served 16 years with U. S. Civil Service as an aviation test project officer and developmental flight test pilot for airplanes, helicopters, compound and tilt-rotor aircraft.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Myra McLeod Grady.
Survivors include two daughters, Dr. Donna Grady Rogers and her husband, Dr. Turner Rogers, Mobile, AL; Janet Grady Lumley and her husband, Gary Motl, Corpus Christi, TX; two step-daughters, Susan Busch; Mari-Lynn Daugherty; one step-son, Sonny Smith; nephew, Durwood Grady, New Bern, NC; niece, Imelda Byrd, Emerald Isle, NC; one grandchild, Brian Jeffrey, Mobile, AL.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
William Grady was a patriotic, Christian, American man who was a member of First Baptist Church of Enterprise, Association of the United States Army, Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Master Mason. “Bill” enjoyed a long and happy life.
