William “Bill” Varnum, 89, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Sunday, July 4, 2021. He was born on March 4, 1932, in Dothan to the late Cas M. Varnum and Leotus (Woodham) Varnum.


A funeral service will take place at 11 AM, Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior to service, burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.


Bill was a member at Cowarts Assembly of God Church. Bill entered the Marine’s in 1950 and was involved in the Korea Conflict and Vietnam War.  He proudly served his country for 20 years and retired as a Gunnery Sgt.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph (Juanita) Varnum, and Billy Varnum.


Survivors include stepdaughter, Sandy (Edward) Shinn, niece, Marilyn (Mike) Davis, nephew, Jeff (Elaine) Varnum, along with several great-nephews and nieces.
