William Young “Billy” Peters, Jr., a resident of Dothan, passed away Friday, June 8, 2018 at his residence. He was 80.
The family will receive friends at their residence from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 10, 2018. Private family memorial services will be held at later date.
Mr. Peters was born April 27, 1938 in Graceville, Florida to William Young and Ada Luverne Collins Peters and was a 1957 graduate of Poplar Springs High School. He moved to Dothan in 1960. In 1970, he established Billy Peters Truck Repair which he owned and operated for 46 years prior to his retirement in 2016. Mr. Peters was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended the Chapelwood Congregation.
He is predeceased by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gloria “Purt” Peters of Dothan; a daughter, Rachel Bass (Richie) of Dothan; two grandsons, William “Bryce” Bass and Bowen Bass, both of Dothan; three sisters, Dorothy Lewis of Graceville, FL, Margaret Pulsifer of CA and Jacqueline Stewart of Richmond, VA; sisters-in-law, June Holland (Bob) of Cottonwood and Hellon Dawkins of Hartford; brothers-in-law, Billy Owens of Montgomery and Wallace Owens (Nina) of Wetumpka; several nieces and nephews; faithful friends and employees, Robert Sadler of Graceville, FL and Jay Jackson of Dothan.
