KINSEY…William Buford Sanders, a resident of Kinsey, died Wednesday morning, March 9, 2016, at his home. He was 82.


            Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 11, 2016, in the Kinsey Baptist Church with Reverend Brad Hardy officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the mortuary in Headland.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contribution may be made to Covenant Care, 1512 West Main Street, Dothan, Alabama 36301.


            Mr. Sanders, son of the late Joseph Thomas Sanders and Nora Elizabeth Parker Sanders, was born and reared in Henry County. He graduated from Headland High School and attended Auburn University. Mr. Sanders served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He moved to Kinsey in 1960 where he was a member of the Kinsey Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. He began working at Ft. Rucker in 1958 as an Avionics Technician and worked at both Cairn’s Field and Hanchey Field. Mr. Sanders retired in 1995 after thirty-seven years employment.  Mr. Sanders was preceded in death by his wife, Myra Bell Avery Sanders and a brother, Robert Sanders.


            Surviving relatives include two sons, William Scott “Scotty” Sanders (Vickie Jahn), Headland; Dennis Lamar Sanders, Kinsey; two sisters, Lorell Mims, Kinsey; Linda Woodham (Gerald), Dothan; a sister-in-law, Dot Sanders, Dothan; four brothers, Joseph Sanders (Marie) and James Sanders, all of Kinsey; David Sanders (Janice), Dothan; Larry Sanders (Sheila), Newville; three grandchildren, Christine Reynolds (Deric), William Aaron Sanders, and Preston Scott Sanders; two great-grandchildren, Gabe Reynolds and Jalen Reynolds; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and special friends, Helen Downing, George Ward, and the Suggs family.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Kirt Mims, Keith Carter, Neil Sanders, Preston Sanders, Aaron Sanders, and Jeff Mims.


            The family would like to express their appreciation to Covenant Care for the loving care and kindness shown to Mr. Sanders during his illness.
