WILLIAM CHALMERS BEATY


Mr. William C. Beaty, of Louisville, AL, passed away Friday October 21, 2011 at his residence after an extended illness. He was 86.


 


Funeral services will be held Sunday, October 23 at 2:30 PM at Louisville Baptist Church with the Reverend Robert Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, located near his home. Covenant Funeral Services of Dothan, AL will be directing.


 


The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the service, from 1:30 to 2:30 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 7011 Fulton Ct. Montgomery, AL 36117, or Vivian B. Adams School, 2047 Stuart Tarter Rd. Ozark, AL 36360.


 


Mr. Beaty was born May 5, 1925 to John Green Beaty and Ruth Gachet Beaty. Mr. Beaty served in World War II and returned home to farm the family land. His gift of farming was a blessing to all with whom he so freely shared his crops. He married Sybil Johnson July17, 1949  and they raised three sons; Stanley, Howard, and Tim that they devoted their lives to, as they faced the battles of Muscular Dystrophy. William and Sybil enjoyed the years of  volunteer work with Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Mr. Beaty was a lifelong member of Louisville Baptist Church and became a Deacon in 1972. He also served as a Training Union Director and usher for many years.


 


Mr. Beaty was preceded in death by his three sons and his brother, James Willis Beaty, brother-in-laws, Hoyt Johnson, Leslie Johnson, Herbert Johnson and G.E. Johnson.  He was also preceded in death by fourteen siblings in which he so loving cared for throughout their lives.


 


Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Sybil J. Beaty of Louisville; sisters-in-law, Frances G. Beaty of Louisville, and Carolyn Johnson of Auburn, and brother-in-law Lewis Johnson and a several of nieces and nephews, and faithful dog "Ginger."


 


Pallbearers are Bill Hovey, John F. Beaty, Charles Beaty, Ray Weston, Allan Stanland and Julian Hurst, Jr.


 


Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons of Louisville Baptist Church.


 


The family wishes to thank caregivers, Bonnie Key-Boyd, Classie Whigham, Lamar McBride, Jean Griffin, Georgia Pittman and the staff of First Choice Hospice for all the loving care they gave to Mr. Beaty.
