William Damascus “Dick” Barr, 88, a resident of Dothan passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Extendicare.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Allie Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
Mr. Barr was born January 24, 1928 in Coffee County, AL to the late James David and Lourine Barr. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1947 and was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 26 years until his retirement in 1981. Mr. Barr was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, a sister-in-law and a son-in-law.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Pauline Barnes Barr; his daughter, Chrysta Standifer; his son, Duran (Tammie) Barr; his grandchildren, Garon Standifer, Paden (Sara) Standifer, Laney (Cody) DuBose, and Courtney (Justin) Woodham; his brothers, James Barr of Panama City, FL, Herbert (Joyce) Barr of Enterprise, AL, and Doug (Joan) Barr of Scottsdale, AZ; his sister, Joyce (Morris) Hyatt of Hartford, AL; several nieces and nephews.
