Mr. William Ed Harrison of Geneva, Alabama went home to be with his heavenly Father on Sunday, April 6, 2014.  He was 70.


 


Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in the chapel of Sorrells Funeral Home in Geneva with Rev. Richard Thorn officiating and Larry Harrison delivering the eulogy.  Burial will follow in the Pilgrim Home Baptist Church Cemetery in Wicksburg with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Geneva directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, April 8, from 5 until 8 p.m.


 


Ed was born February 17, 1944, in Geneva County, Alabama to the late Ollie D. “Red” and Gladys Mitchell Harrison.  He graciously devoted most of his working career to law enforcement. For 16 years he was employed with the Geneva County Sheriff’s office; 14 years with the Geneva Police Department and later after 20 years of service he retired as Chief Juvenile Probation Officer for Geneva, County.  Ed was very active in the community and was a role model for many.  He had a very loving spirit and a smile for everyone he met.  Ed loved people and everyone loved him.  He touched many lives in several different and unique ways.  If you knew Ed, you had a friend for life and someone you could count on.  He was very devoted to his family as well as his many friends.  Ed was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Geneva and he was an avid Alabama “Roll Tide” fan.


 


In addition to his parents his sister, Francis Williams, preceded him in death.


 


Survivors include his wife, Monica Turner Harrison; daughter, Jennifer Russell and husband Allan; grandson, Harrison Russell, all of Geneva; son, Todd Simpson of Sellersville; two brothers: David Harrison and wife Shanna, and Joe Harrison, all of Geneva; several nieces, nephews; other extended family and a host of friends.


 


Serving as active pallbearers will be Ricky Morgan, David Helms, Michael McDuffie, Tony Helms, Greg Ward and Frankie Lindsey.


 


Ray Mock, along with all law enforcement will serve as honorary pallbearers.
