ABBEVILLE. . .William Joseph “Bill” Ward, a resident of Abbeville, died Wednesday morning, October 9, 2024, at his home. He was 95.


            Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Sunday, October 13, 2024, in the Dothan City Cemetery with Chaplain Joel Laseter officiating. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 1:45 P.M. Sunday at the mortuary in Abbeville.


            Mr. Ward was born and reared in Dothan, son of the late Howard T. Ward and Ruth Radney Ward. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War era. Mr. Ward was a member of the Ft. Gaines Presbyterian Church. In earlier years, he was active in the Masonic Lodge in Dothan and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He was retired from Duo-Fast as Service Manager. Mr. Ward was formerly employed as an Insurance Adjuster. He lived most of his adult lifetime in Dothan before moving to Otho Creek on Lake Eufaula in Henry County in 1986. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by a son, John Ward.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Shirley Walker Ward, two sons, Radney Ward, Panama City, FL; and David Ward (Leisha), Abbeville; grandchildren, Dillon Ward (Danielle), Dustin Ward (Brooke), Garrett Ward and Joe Ward; six great-grandchildren.
