William Larry Stokes

DOTHAN. . .William Larry Stokes, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday, July 1, 2023, at his home. He was 75.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 3, 2023, in the Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Lance Griffin officiating and eulogy to be given by Benny Gay. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday at Glover Funeral Home, 1468 Hartford Highway, Dothan, AL 36301. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gentiva Hospice, 2431West Main Street, Suite 1102, Dothan, AL 36301

Larry Stokes was a native of Gordo, Alabama and was reared in Aliceville, Alabama. He was a graduate of Aliceville High School and received a B.S. Degree in Management from the University of West Alabama. Larry lived in Tifton, Georgia before moving to Dothan forty-one years ago. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and the Buddy Pittman Sunday School Class. Larry was retired from Flavor House Products in Dothan as Shipping & Receiving Supervisor. He was preceded in death by his father, William Thomas Stokes his mother, Jewel Clarice Pritchett Stokes and a brother, Billy Stokes.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Sylvia Messer Stokes, daughters, Michele Herring Wagner (Jason), Dothan; and Marcie Herring Kelly (Warren), Hartford; a son, James Stokes, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Mitch Lucky (Kaci), Saje Cox, and Cody Cox (Kaitlin), Sara Beth Wagner, Morgan Kelly and Coe Kelly; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie Lucky, Mary Kate Lucky, Matlee Beth Lucky and Carter Cox; a sister-in-law, Susan Anderson (Brett), a nephew, Cevin Medley (Bobbilynn), a great-niece, Kaitlyn Medley and a great-nephew, Caleb Medley.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Johnny Waters, Danny Mallory, David Bishop, Benny Gay, Ricky Coleman and Doug Enfinger. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the Buddy Pittman Sunday School Class.
