WILLIAM LEE “WIG” BLANKENSHIP
HEADLAND… William Lee “Wig” Blankenship, a resident of Headland, Alabama, passed away Tuesday evening, May 14, 2024, at Henry County Health and Rehabilitation in Abbeville. He was 73.
A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 17, 2024, at Gateway Baptist Church in Headland with Pastor Ruth Jones officiating. Family will receive friends following the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Blankenship’s honor to Gateway Baptist Church, 1641 AL-134 West, Headland, Alabama 36345.
Mr. Blankenship was born in Henry County, Alabama to the late Acy Blankenship and Inez Cook Blankenship. He has lived in Headland, Alabama for the past seventeen years. Prior to living in Headland, Alabama he had lived in Abbeville, Alabama and Clopton, Alabama. He was retired from West Point-Pepperell. He was a member of the Gateway Baptist Church in Headland, Alabama.
Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a grandchild, Amanda Stevenson.
Leaving to cherish his memories are his wife, Elizabeth McDaniel Blankenship; his daughters, Sara Blankenship Hardwick (Andrew) and Jennifer Blankenship Horsley (Serik); his son, Nathan Blankenship (Arin); his sister, Lillian Watson (Jeff); his brothers, Ray Blankenship (Mathan) and Charles Blankenship (Barbara); his grandchildren, Bryson Hicks, Josiah Blankenship, Maddie Blankenship, and Deonta Chitty, Konsula Peterson; and his great-grandchildren, Delani Chitty and Kalani Peterson
