Mr. William “Louie” Vance, age 87, resident of Dothan, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024, at his home surrounded by his family.


 


A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, October 14, 2024 at the Dothan City Cemetery with Bro. Jeremy Meetze officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing.


 


In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at Memorial Giving 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.



Mr. Louie was born in Dothan on May 11, 1937 to the late Mr. George Newton Vance and Mrs. Adelaide Jones Vance. He attended Dothan High School and later joined the United States Army. After his service in the Army, he became manager at Pacific Bell also known as Bell South. Later he worked for AT&T and retired after twenty years of service.


 


Mr. Louie was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ryan Vance; and brother, Pete Vance.


 


Mr. Louie is survived by two sons, Anthony Vance (Brenda) of Dothan and Willie Vance (Toni) of Rocklin, CA; brother, Jonathan Vance of Vestavia Hills; grandchildren, Ashley Vance of Rockling, CA and Kyle Vance of Walnut Creek, CA; niece, Susan Vance of Spanish Fort; and newphew, Jon Vance of Helena.
