William “Ray” Whitehead, 66, of Dothan passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jerry Glover officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6pm-8pm Thursday.

Mr. Whitehead was born September 9, 1946 in Columbus, Georgia and resided in Dothan for the past 30 years. Mr. Whitehead served in the United State Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was an avid fisherman, gardener, and loved spending time with his grand babies. He was preceded in death by his parents William Virgil Whitehead and Dolores Whitehead.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Whitehead; two sons, Ron Pouncey and Mark (Ramona) Pouncey; his daughter, Keli (Marc) Allen; his grandchildren, Skye (Jeremy) Robinson, Chelsea Holland, Morgan Pouncey, Kaleb Pouncey and Troy Dawson; his great-grandchildren, Seth Quintero, Gage Robinson and Brycen Robinson; his sister, Judy Smith; several nieces and nephews.
