William Reaves West Jr. of Dothan passed away Monday October 10, 2016 after an extended illness. He was 84.


 


Mr. West was born August 15, 1932 in Edenton, N.C. to William and Ida West. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from the Dothan City Police Department in 1983 as a Sergeant. He was a detective for most of his career. In 1998 he retired from Farley Nuclear Plant as a security officer. He was a faithful member of Taylor Assembly of God, where he served as a trustee for many years.


 


He is preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Sarah, a daughter Geraldine, one bother and one sister.


 


He is survived by his wife, Etoula, his daughter Jessica (Blake) Sanders and grandson Tripp, a brother Gordon (Jo) West of Bethlehem, N.C. a sister Estelle Dempsey of Austin, TX. sister-in- law Nancy Woodham of Dothan and brother –in-law Paul (Jackie) Roberts of Warner Robins GA. and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece Patti Collins (David) of Valapraiso FL.


 


Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM, Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kenneth Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Newton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM, Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at the funeral home. At all other times the family will be at the home of his daughter. Special thanks to Dr. Bryant Williams, Dr. Buddy Stokes and the nurses of AlaCare Home Health.
