WILLIAM  RYMON  PRESTON,  JR.


 


AVON, ALABAMA. . .William Rymon Preston, Jr., a resident of Avon, died unexpectedly Friday night, April 4, 2014, at his home. He was 63.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Johnny Simmons and Reverend Nona Richards officiating. Burial will follow in the Echo United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary in Headland.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.


            Rymon Preston was a lifelong resident of Avon, son of the late William Rymon Preston, Sr. and Mathaleen Riley Preston. He was a 1969 graduate of Ashford High School where he excelled in basketball and baseball. During most of his lifetime, Rymon played baseball and softball and also coached girls softball. He retired as the co-owner and operator of the Ashford Package Store. In earlier years, he managed the bait and tackle at the Conoco in Ashford and had also been self-employed as the co-owner and operator of Preston Brothers Logging. Rymon was a member of the Grace Park United Methodist Church in Ashford. He was preceded in death by a sister, Yvonne Preston, and a brother, Riley Preston.


            Surviving relatives include his wife, Shandra Watston Preston, Avon; two sons, Dewey Thomas Denman, and Dylan Frederick Denman, both of Samson, AL; a niece, Peppi Cooper (Jeff), a nephew, Chuck Preston, three great-nieces, Kourtney Cooper, Kasey Cooper, and Peyton Grace Preston; a great-nephew, Jon Riley Preston; numerous cousins.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be Wayne Hatcher, Mac Lewis, Bud Wright, Jon Riley Preston, Chris Bowen, Loyd Williams, and Stanley Crawford. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Rexford Crawford, Greg Crawford, Ronnie Cherry, Carl Selfe, Donny Cosby, and Mac Borland.
