ABBEVILLE. . .William Thomas “Gopher” Money, a resident of Abbeville, died Saturday morning, May 27, 2023, in Crowne Health Care of Eufaula. He was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 30, 2023, in the Shorterville Baptist Church with Reverend George Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Abbeville Memorial Cemetery-East. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. Monday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
Mr. Money was born and reared in Henry County, near Shorterville, son of the late James Thomas Money and Addie Wilma Vinson Money. He was a lifelong resident of Henry County. Mr. Money served his country in the Army National Guard in the Abbeville unit. He was a member of the Shorterville Baptist Church. Mr. Money retired as the owner and operator of Money’s Garage in Abbeville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Kelly Money, a daughter, Kimberly Ann Money Wamble and a brother, Justin “Buddy” Money.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Heather Jones and Ma Linda Golden (Mike), all of Abbeville; four sons, Keith Money (Brenda), and Eric Money (Shelly), all of Abbeville; David Lee Money, Clayton; and LaDon Chambers, Shorterville; two brothers, Jackie A. Money (Elaine), and Russell Money (Shirley), all of Abbeville; a sister-in-law, Mary Money Worrel, Abbeville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren
