William Wayne Thompson was escorted into heaven on January 9, 2023. He was 68. Wayne born on April 6, 1954 and was the youngest of six children of Frank and Nuna Thompson. He was a life-long resident of Geneva and proud graduate of the Class of 1972.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pittman Funeral Home in Geneva with Royce Reagan officiating. Visitation will begin at 2:00 p.m.
Wayne always had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met. An avid Alabama fan, a lover of history who enjoyed sharing his knowledge, and a Bible scholar. He had a love of learning, regardless of the topic, a sense of adventure and a lover of karate and billiards. He loved playing practical jokes on friends and family. He lived a simple life and had a big heart for others. If you were his friend, he would do anything for you, even it meant a sacrifice for him. He loved his family and never failed to tell you how much he loved you.
Wayne was very proud of his children William, Ross, Danielle and his 6 grandchildren; Christa, Megan, Asher, Eden, Dylan and Travis. Also surviving are his 4 sisters who spoiled him rotten, Waunette Puhl, Ramona Ferguson (Gary), Jackie Reagan (Royce), Lynda Thompson (Wells) and one brother Dr. Sonny Thompson (Rose), many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family would like to thank SARCOA, Wiregrass Medical Center, and his son Ross, who took care of him until the very end. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to assist with funeral expenses. A gofundme page has been established.
