 William Woodrow Tillery


William Woodrow “Woody” Tillery, a resident of The Terrace at Grove Park died there, Friday, February 19, 2016 at the age of 101.


Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to service time.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Respite Care Fund, 1380 W. Main St., Dothan, AL, 36301.


Mr. Tillery was born Dec. 22, 1914 in Hatchechubbee, Alabama and lived his early years in Metter, Georgia. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army Air Corps. He was employed with Civil Service at Ft. Rucker for many years prior to his retirement. Mr. Tillery was an active member of First Baptist Church.


He is predeceased by his wife, Doris Tillery.


Survivors include a son, Craig Tillery of Dothan; a step-daughter, Donna Howell (Mike) of Dothan; a sister, Mary Alice Tarver of Savannah, GA; seven grandchildren, April Hebert (Josh), Claudia Sullivan (Patrick) John Howell (Heather), Lisa Kelley, Amy Kelley, Leigh Kelley,  and Jesse Kelley (Brehan); ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
