WILLIE BRASWELL McCRANEY
CLAYTON. . .Willie Braswell McCraney, a resident of County Road 67, Clayton, died Thursday morning, March 1, 2012, in the Crowne Health Care of Eufaula. She was 70.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 3, 2012, in the Adams Chapel United Methodist Church with Reverend Winston Jay officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 4:30 until 7:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Abbeville.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Adams Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Faye Glover, 620 Bud Gary Road, Clayton, AL. 36016.
Mrs. McCraney was born and reared in Eufaula, daughter of the late Willie Green Braswell and Lorna Bruner Braswell. She lived in the Adams Chapel community most of her lifetime where she was a member of the Adams Chapel United Methodist Church and was a former member of the The Red Hat Society. Mrs. McCraney and her late husband, Kelley McCraney, Jr., formerly owned and operated Kelley’s Grocery in Texasville and Baker Hill and also Kelley’s Fireworks of Eufaula. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Hattie Glover, Betty Ware and Dot Starboard.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Donna McCraney Wagner and husband, Scott, Millbrook, AL; a son, Dickie A. McCraney and wife, Sherrill, Eufaula; two sisters, Helen Sheffield Pitts and husband, Buddy, Slapout, AL; and Jean Wood and husband, J. T., Montgomery; two brothers, Jerry Braswell and wife, Louise, Wetumpka; and Larry Braswell, Wetumpka, AL; five grandchildren, Amy McCraney, Alan McCraney, Elise Felix and husband, Michael, Jackson White and William Wagner; a great-grandson, Aiden Felix; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law from the McCraney family, Faye and Howard Glover, Neomi and George Argo, Sybil and Housh Rahimzadeh, Maggie Nell Willingham, Wade Thompson, Sue Nash, Dot McCraney and Carolyn McCraney; numerous nieces and nephews.
