Willie James Brooks, a resident of Midland City, Alabama passed away on Friday, March 9, 2018 at his residence. He was 70.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday, March 16, 2018 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery in Midland City with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the church for 1 hour prior to the service.
Mr. Brooks was born on January 17, 1948 to Isaac and Gussie L. Brooks in Midland City, Alabama where he lived until his passing. He attended M.M. Mathews High School and graduated in 1966. After high school, he began working with Hayes International Aircraft and traveled to Thailand and Tahiti working on aircrafts. After returning home in later years, he began working at Twitchell’s in Dothan. He worked there for 35 years until his retirement in 2006. In his earlier years, he enjoyed driving his black and white super sport and going deep sea fishing in Panama City and Destin, Florida.
Mr. Brooks was preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Gussie Brooks; a brother, Jesse (Nick); and a sister, Mamie Nell Brooks.
He leaves to cherish and celebrate his memories to his three children, Felicia (Marcus) Thomas Wilson of Atlanta, GA, Gloria Young of Los Angeles, CA, and Kendrick Franklin of Dothan, AL; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Edna Brooks, JoAnn Jackson, Sharon Gibson, and Maurine (James) Bigham all of Midland City, AL; two brothers, James (Betty) Brooks and Robert (Snowdie) Jones all of Midland City, Alabama; two step-brothers and six step-sisters; an aunt, Louella Kennedy of Albany, GA; two uncles, Thomas Brooks of New Jersey and Albert (Doris) Taylor of Albany, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends of the Treehouse.
