Willie Lamar Shiver, 62, of Dothan passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral services will be 1 pm Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 7-8 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Shiver was born April 19, 1950 in Houston County to Byrd and Teary Shiver. He graduated from E.R. Grimsley High School in 1968. Mr. Shiver completed an HVAC program at Wallace Community College and joined the U.S. Marine Corp in 1969 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his military service he was employed with Pemco Aeroplex until his retirement in 2008. Mr. Shiver was united in marriage to Annie Smith, July 10, 1972. From this union they had six children and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Byrd and Teary Shiver; brother, Eddie Roy Shiver and his sister, Barbara Ann Hinton.

Mr. Shiver leave to cherish his loving and devoted wife, Annie Shiver; daughters, April Shiver, Sanundra Shiver, Deborah (Joey) Davis, Stacie Shiver, Marquita Shiver and Whitney Shiver; seven grandchildren; siblings, Augusta White, Steven (Gladys) Shiver, Louie (Girlie) Shiver and Betty (Jimmy) Snipes; his in-laws, Ray Smith, Nettie (Jim) Berry, Bobby (Rosie) Smith, Larry (Rose) Smith, Lillian Rivers, Lessie Glanton; a host of nieces and nephews and a special friend, Richard Rivers.
