Willie Nell Elmore, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2024, at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle, at the age of 87. Born on September 03, 1936, in Houston County, Alabama, she was a devoted daughter to the late Cairey Folkes and Johnnie May Turner.


Funeral services will be held at 11AM Friday, July 5, 2024, at the Cowart’s Baptist Church in Cowarts, AL with the Reverend Jonathon Sorensen officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted, or a donation can be made to the Cowarts Baptist Building Fund. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


A devoted and longtime member of Cowart’s Baptist Church, Willie Nell’s faith was a cornerstone of her existence. Her commitment to the church community and her steadfast belief were sources of comfort and inspiration to all who knew her. She was a woman whose actions reflected her faith, and she embraced every opportunity to serve others.


Willie Nell had an extraordinary capacity to love and care for not only her family but also her neighbors and friends. She had a gift for making everyone feel special and valued, and her kind-heartedness left an indelible mark on the community; as well as those she served for over 40 years at Swiss Dry Cleaners in Dothan, AL.


As we say farewell to Willie Nell Elmore, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life full of compassion, dedication, and grace.


She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 remarkable years Enuwine Richmond Elmore. Sisters, Johnnie Fay Folkes and Dorothy Folkes, Brother, Addeth E Folkes and granddaughter, Elizabeth Meagan Elmore. Her survivors include her beloved son, David Allen Elmore (Sheryl), Wicksburg, AL; one sister, Carrie Sue Kirkland, Dothan, AL. and one sister-in-law; Phyllis Folkes of Pansey, AL., along with several nieces and nephews and close friends, who will miss her dearly.


The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle South Hall 2 for their extensive love, care and compassion during her stay.
