Willie Stewart

Willie Stewart, affectionately known as Willie, passed away on April 5, 2024, after a courageous battle with an extended illness. He was born on November 23, 1950, in Webb, Alabama, and spent his final days surrounded by the love and warmth of his family in Dothan, Alabama.

Willie was a man of the soil, having farmed his entire life with an unwavering dedication to the land. His career spanned an impressive 50 years, with 25 years at Stringfellow Farms followed by another 25 at Forrester Farms. His passion for agriculture was evident in the meticulous care he took of his crops and the respect he had for the earth.

A loving and devoted husband, Willie shared 46 years of marriage with his cherished wife, Bertha Lee Stewart. Their bond was a testament to true partnership and mutual adoration. He was a beloved father to seven children: Robert Robertson, Maggie Walker, Larry (Dawn) Bryant, Jr., Ed Bryant, Sedina (William) Bryant, Kelvin (Gabrielle) Bryant, and Maurice (Tanya) Bryant. Willie's legacy continued to flourish through his 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.

Willie's siblings, Robert Lee (Tisha) Stewart, Lena (Mae) Brooks, Ed Stewart, Willie Mae Davis, and Essie (Isaac) Doss, along with a host of nieces and nephews, will remember his loving spirit and friendly demeanor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Estelle Helms Stewart, and by his brothers, Willie Jay Stewart, David Lee Stewart, Lewis Stewart, and Willie David Stewart, Sr.

Willie's interests extended beyond the farm. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting deer. His faith played a central role in his life; he was a long-standing member of St. Paul's Church in Ashford, Alabama, and later joined Shiloh Church in Midland City. His community knew him as a man of faith, friendly by nature, and always ready to lend a helping hand.

He loved his family deeply and was their pillar, providing unwavering support and guidance. Willie's love for his wife, Miss Bertha, was evident to all who knew them, and their relationship was a source of inspiration. His presence was a constant reminder that "The greatest of these is love," as famously stated by the Apostle Paul.

Willie Stewart's life was a reflection of love, faith, and friendship. He will be remembered for his kind heart, his faith-filled soul, and his friendly smile that could light up any room. His passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his spirit will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.

Willie's dedication to his family, his work, and his faith will not be forgotten. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with love and service to others. Willie Stewart's memory will be cherished forever by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
