World War II and Korean War Veteran and Geneva County Cattle Rancher Wilson Ashley Stembridge of Samson passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at his residence. He was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Pilgrim Home Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Hood and Rev. Hilton Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church.
The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Landmark Park, 430 Landmark Drive, Dothan, AL. 36303.
Mr. Stembridge was born in Wicksburg, AL. on September 2, 1925 to the late James George and Johnnie Wilson Stembridge. In his early 20’s, Mr. Stembridge owned and operated a produce trucking company running 6 to 7 trucks in Miami, FL. He was later drafted in the United States Military, proudly serving in both the U S Navy and the U S Army. He was a veteran of WWII and also the Korean War. He was a successful cattle rancher in Geneva County for over 30 years.
He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Lindy Stembridge, Travis Wayne Stembridge, George Hilton Stembridge, Willadene Stembridge Odom, who was his only sister; his twin brothers Comer Stembridge and Homer Stembridge.
He is survived by two brothers, Melvin Rudolph Stembridge and John Madison Stembridge, both of Miami, FL.
